Lavender Soap Recipe

All soapmakers have their favorite lavender soap recipe because they love this scent or someone they love absolutely loves lavender! It is a “must have” essential oil for everyone. I consider it a part of my family medicine cabinet. It blends well with many oils and isclaimed to treat more conditions than any other oil.

  • Lavender is claimed to have a physical and emotional calming and relaxing effect.
  • Many believe that lavender counters insomnia.
  • Lavender is wonderful for the skin and some say it soothes burns and scarring.
  • Lavender is said to have antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Lavender Rosemary Oatmeal Honey Soap

INGREDIENTS

Fats, oils and butters

  • 330 grams olive oil
  • 150 grams vegetable shortening
  • 120 grams coconut oil

Lye – distilled water

  •  83 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
  • 228 grams distilled water

Scent at trace

  • 20 to 36 grams of a blend of lavender and rosemary essential oils  (you will need a little over 30  millilitres bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).
  • 1/2 cup of coarsely ground oatmeal and lavender buds
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

This recipe makes about 2 pounds of soap which will produce about 6-7 bars of natural soap.

Cold process instructions

Lavender Sage Soap

INGREDIENTS

Fats, oils and butters

  • 420 grams *sage infused olive oil
  • 150 grams coconut oil
  • 30 grams castor oil

Lye – Water solution

  •  84 grams lye (sodium hydroxide
  • 228 grams distilled water

Additive and scent at trace

  • 20 to 36 grams of a blend of lavender and clary sage essential oils – (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).
  • ½ cup of dried sage leaves

This recipe makes about 2 pounds of soap which will produce about 6-7 bars of natural soap.

Cold process instructions

*To infuse the olive oil, put 500 grams of olive oil with 250 grams (.5 lb) of sage in the crockpot for 3 hours on low. There is extra olive oil because some of it will evaporate with the heat. If you need to just top it off with olive oil if you are missing a few grams.

Pink Lavender Soap

INGREDIENTS

Fats, oils and butters

  • 180 grams shea butter
  • 180 grams palm oil
  • 120 grams coconut oil
  • 120 grams olive oil

Lye – Water solution

  •  88 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
  • 228 grams distilled water

Additive and scent at trace

  • 20 to 36 grams of a blend of lavender, patchouli and vanilla essential oils – fragrance oil or your (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).
  • 2 tablespoons pink clay

This recipe makes about 2 pounds of soap which will produce about 6-7 bars of natural soap.
