Below you have 2 beeswax soap recipes. Note that beeswax is treated as an additive and is not oil, although part of it does saponify. To add it to your lye soap recipes, you can heat it with your fats, oils and butters.

Beeswax is produced naturally by honey bees and can be used in many lotions, creams and cosmetics. Since you already have beeswax, I am suggesting that you also try a lotion bar recipe (these are also called massage bars).

Make soap using beeswax

BENEFITS

  • Beeswax is great for your skin.
  • Beeswax will make your soap harder and last longer.
  • It will add a nice warm honey smell and yellow tint.

The beeswax additive should be about 1% to 2% of your overall recipe; more will cut down the soap’s lather. You can add beeswax to any of your natural soap recipes.

Simple Beeswax Soap

INGREDIENTS

Fats, oils and butters

  • 180 grams palm oil
  • 180 grams shea butter
  • 120 grams coconut oil
  • 120 grams olive oil
  • 12 grams of beeswax (this is treated as an additive but added with the oils)

Lye – Water solution

  • 82 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
  • 228 grams distilled water

Additive and scent at light trace

  • optional: 20 to 36 grams of your favorite essential oils or fragrance oils (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).

This simple beeswax soap recipe makes about 2 pounds of soap which will produce about 6-7 bars of natural soap.

Beeswax, Honey and Oats Soap

INGREDIENTS

Fats, oils and butters

  • 300 grams vegetable shortening
  • 150 grams coconut oil
  • 150 grams olive oil
  •   12grams of beeswax

Lye – Water solution

  • 84 grams lye (sodium hydroxide)
  • 380 grams distilled water

Additives at light trace

  • ½ cup of coarsely ground oatmeal.
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • optional: 20 to 36 grams of your favorite essential oils or fragrance oils (you will need a little over 30  milliliters bottle the equivalent of about one fluid ounce).

This beeswax soap recipe makes about 2 pounds of soap which will produce about 6-7 bars of natural soap.
