This glycerin soap recipe makes 10 pieces of soap but you do not have to make the whole cake if you do not want to.

You do not have to use all the triangles if you do not want simply adjust the recipe. Each slice of watermelon soap contains 6 ounces of glycerin melt and pour soap. But do not worry about liquidating these slices of watermelon soap…everyone will want to take one off your hand.

Watermelon soap

INGREDIENTS

1 pound white melt and pour soap base (many soap bases exists goats milk, coconut)
3 pounds clear melt and pour soap base (from nature with love has a red colored clear soap base that would be perfect because you would not need to buy red colorant)
2 teaspoons spirulina powder mixed in a teaspoon of olive oil or green soap colorant
About 30 drops of red soap colorant if you are using clear melt and pour
1 teaspoon of poppy seeds
1 1/2 tablespoon watermelon fragrance
Small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol

I used the microwave to make this glycerin soap recipe but you can also use the double-boiler.

DIRECTIONS

Cut the white melt and pour soap base into small chunks and separate the pound putting 2/3 of the pound in one microwave safe dish and the other 1/3 in another.

Microwave the 2/3 of the pound for 30 seconds then mix with a spoon.
Repeat this process until the melt and pour base is completely melted. Do not overcook the soap.

Add your green colorant (spirulina and olive oil or soap colorant).
Gently pour in the bottoms of the triangles of the mold.
Spritz the top of the soap with the rubbing alcohol to remove air bubbles.

Wait about 10 minutes not too long because your watermelon soap will separate.

Melt the rest of the white soap base.
Spritz the top of the soap with the rubbing alcohol again to help the layering.
Gently pour the white melted soap on the top.
Spritz the top of the soap with the rubbing alcohol to remove air bubbles.
Cut the clear melt and pour soap base.

Measure out and set aside your fragrance oil and poppy seeds.

Wait about 10 minutes not too long because your watermelon soap will separate.

Microwave the 3 pounds of clear soap base for 45 seconds then mix with a spoon.Repeat this process with 30 seconds spurs until the melt and pour base is completely melted. Do not overcook the soap.
Mix in the red colorant, fragrance and poppy seeds.
Spritz the top of the soap with the rubbing alcohol again to help the layering.
Gently pour the melted soap over the other two layers.

Ta-Da!!! The soap making part is over!
Leave the cake mold rest for a few hours until it is hard. When it is solid you simply pop it out the mold. If it is difficult you can put the watermelon soap in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

This recipe makes 12 bath bombs, you can always make less but…then you might not have any left for you.

This is a great hit for birthday party favors; my tween daughter’s friends absolutely adored them.

I used a silicone muffin mold for these. My mold has 12 cavities but I you could use 2 of these molds. I like the shape and I must confess that I’ve had a rough time molding the round bath bombs. I know I can make these in less than 30 minutes.

Watermelon Bath Bombs

INGREDIENTS

2 cups Epsom salt
2 cups citric acid (this is the fizz)
4 cups baking soda
4 teaspoons of a carrier oil (almond, olive, glycerin)
Red food coloring
Green food coloring
3 teaspoons watermelon fragrance
Spray bottle with water
Plastic gloves

DIRECTIONS

Mix the Epsom salt, the citric acid and baking soda together with gloved hands.
Separate the mixture into 2 bowls. One with 2/3 (this will be the pinkish red) of the mixture and the second with 1/3 (this will be the green). You could also add a white layer if you wanted.
Start with 2/3 of the mixture. Add 7 or 8 drops of the red food coloring. Mix with your gloved hands. Add more coloring until you reach the color you want.
Set aside 1 teaspoon of watermelon fragrance for the green mixture.
Add 2 teaspoons of the watermelon fragrance to the pink mixture.
Make sure that all the color and the fragrance is well mixed and work out any clumps.
Add 2 teaspoons of carrier oil and mix again. Reserve 1 teaspoon for the other mixture.
Then spritz some water on the mixture. Less is more! I suggest about 5 or 6 sprays.
Mix again. The consistency is of wet sand. You should be able to make a loose ball.
Fill the muffin mold to about 2/3 of each cavity. Firmly press in the mixture,.

We are now ready for the second layer.

Add a few drops of green food coloring. Mix with your gloved hands. Add more coloring until you reach the green you like.
Add 1 teaspoon of the watermelon fragrance and mix.
Add the reserved teaspoon of carrier oil.
Mix again.
Then spritz some water on the mixture. Less is more! I suggest about 2 or 3 sprays.

Press the mixture over the pink mixture.
Leave in mold overnight to set.
Pop these wonderful gifts out the next day.
